Lots of options, so why me? The wedding market can be a bear to sort through some times, so here's some questions I hear a lot that may help you decide if I'll be a great fit for you and your wedding day.
Q: WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?
A: I spend a lot of time developing a connection with my clients before the wedding day. From the initial email, to the in-person meeting, to any questions you have, to your wedding day, the only person you’ll be working with is me. I’m a one-woman band and I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way. I'm also not only a LGBTQ+ friendly photographer, I am enthusiastic about photographing your wedding regardless of who you love. Because at the end of the day, love and cake are all that matters.
Q: HOW DO YOU HELP YOUR CLIENTS?
A: I joke that I’m the swiss army knife of wedding photographers. Your bouquet isn’t how you pictured it? BAM, I’m an impromptu florist. (Yep, that happened.) Your bustle broke and you’re frustrated that you can’t dance? BAM, I’m a seamstress. (Yep, really happened, DIY’ed a new bustle hook with a pocketknife and some creativity) Having a Harry Potter wedding? I brought my wand! Black tie wedding? I’ve got a gown. The short version is that I’m always there for YOU, no matter what you need, even if it’s outside the spectrum of my actual “job.” I’m here for you, and I’ll bend over backwards, sometimes literally, to help you out.
Q: WHAT IF I’M UNCOMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?
A: That’s what I’m here for! I hear “I’m awful in front of the camera” more than anything, and I understand that feeling. Talk to me about what you do and don’t like and I’ll be able to guide you into poses that show you at your best self. But most importantly, know that what makes you good in front of the camera is how much you show me your joy and emotion. Don’t put up a wall or mask those feelings and I promise I will deliver photographs that show you in the most authentic way possible.
Being photographed can be really intimidating, but trust me when I say I’ll always be there to help, I’ll keep it fun, and I’m NEVER above a good dad joke to get you to laugh.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO THE WEDDING DAY?
A: I’m very relaxed, and I try to pass that relaxation on to you. I’m never going to panic or stress you out more than you already are. Odds are, we’ve talked about how the wedding day is structured long before your wedding day, so we’re ready for anything. My goal is to be a wedding day ninja, there when you need me and invisible when you don’t need to see me.
Q: WHAT IMAGES DO YOU THINK MAKE A WEDDING?
A: I’m about to sound horribly sentimental, but they’re the ones that YOU love. I photographed a bride, Katie, who cried when she saw the photo of her bouquet because her Aunt made it for her. It had little fairy lights in it, and it was incredibly meaningful for her, and that made the image more special to me. I love Pinterest, I really do. I think it’s a great visual tool and a great way to organize all your ideas, but I want to create images for you that another couple will pin down the road, rather than re-create something already done.
Q: OKAY, THAT’S ALL WELL AND GOOD, BUT WHY SHOULD I PICK YOU?
A: 3 reasons: First, I’m a great stress reliever. I’m naturally very relaxed, and I work with you in the months leading up to your wedding building your timeline to ensure the setup of your wedding day minimizes stress as much as possible. I try to build a little extra cushion into the timeline, so when something inevitably runs late, we’re still doing just fine. You get the bonus of my years of experience in weddings, and I’ll walk you through each and every step of the process.
Second, this is what I do full time. I’ve photographed more than 100 weddings, and I’m a one-woman band in my business. You’ll be dealing with me from step one to step whatever, and I’ll always be there for questions. (Within reason, midnight emails will be answered in the morning after I’ve had some coffee, I’m no fun without sleep). Even if your questions aren’t photography related, I’ve planned a whole heck of a lot more weddings than you will ever have to, and I’ll help in any way I can.
